2010-11 Sled Hockey Season

 September 4, 2010 from 10:00am to 4:00pm

Cleveland Barons Ice Arena 
corner of Tiedeman Road and Brookpark Road
approx 3 miles south of I-480.

 10am - 12    Novice (Newer Players) Activity
12 – 2pm   Junior Activity
2 – 4pm   Intermediate Activity

 Food, Fun, Getting to know each other!!
 Come early and stay late.

 Hotel Accommodations within 1 mile of rink.

 This year is looking like an exciting one for Mid-Am League and the sport of Sled Hockey.  
New teams are beginning to form in cities like Toledo, Johnstown, Cincinnati and Fort Wayne.  
Come help us start the year off with a Bang!!

Handicap Scuba Association (HSA)

Labor Day weekend September 4-5, 2010
is a 
Handicap Diving event at Portage Quarry. 

Saturday night Sept 4, is a cook out catered by Winking Lizard and raffles and drawings. 
Bring a tent and spend the weekend. 

Also, if you are interested, you can do some diving. 
We will have gear and instructors to get you in the water!

Handcycle Clinic

September 14, 5 – 8 p.m. 

Brecksville Reservation

Cost - $10 (includes handcycle usage and helmet)

Come and learn a new skill or re-visit an activity you once loved. 
Hand-cycling is a great way for individuals to use their upper body strength to pedal a bike. Riding distances will

> vary between 2-6 miles over mostly flat terrain. Five hand cycles are available and first priority will be given to people with physical disabilities. Riders of all abilities are welcome. Helmets are required. 

Activity Level: Easy (some minor inclines)

Ages: 13 and over (with participating adult)

Local artists and musicians share their experiences coping with disability and chronic illness

 Art show begins at 3:00p.m.

Hors d'oeuvres & refreshments will be served.

 Through grants from the Community Health Partners Regional Foundation, Great Lakes Rehabilitation (GLR) Physical Rehabilitation Program offers a weekly support group for current and former patients. The group meets every Saturday at 3:30pm.  GLR’s Recreation Therapy also offers an art therapy program for current and former patients.

Disability Walk Fundraiser
Supporting Three Trackers of Ohio

October 3, 2010 (1pm-4pm)

Hinckley Lake Reservation

Mark your calendar for our disability walk and let all your friends know. 
It will be on October 3rd at 1pm to 4pm and will be located at the Hinckley lake reservation. 
There will be a 3 mile route that everyone can walk, roll or whatever, on. We will have silent auction items, raffles, and other fun stuff. 
Should be a great time - and all money raised goes to Three Trackers of Ohio to help support our program.

Accessible Adventures - Fishing

October 9, 1 – 3 p.m. 

Wallace Lake


Designed specifically for individuals with disabilities, both adults and > children can enjoy a day of fishing and learning new skills. Enjoy learning basic casting skills and fishing knots while trying to catch some fish.


Participants age 16 through 65 require a current Ohio fishing license and must bring it to fish. A one day fishing license is available for purchase through ODNR’s Division of Wildlife web site at www.wildohio.com.

Activity Level: Easy

Ages: 5 and up with participating adult

Fee: $3 first person, $2 each additional sibling (equipment and bait provided)

Power Wheelchair Soccer

We are looking for athletes who are interested in trying the sport of Power Wheelchair Soccer. Here is a link to our website that features a video/description of Power Wheelchair Soccer :

This sport is very inexpensive to start and is played on a basketball court. There are no age limits.

Please forward this information out to your contacts and have them contact me directly. Once I have enough pool of athletes we will schedule a clinic for athletes in Power Wheelchairs to try this sport.
